1. What products are the solar panels compatible with?
Our solar panels are compatible with all Birdfy products. For dual-camera models, like the Birdfy Feeder 2 Duo, we highly suggest using a 5W or 8W solar panel to ensure sufficient power.
2. Can I use the solar panel to charge a dead battery?
We don't recommend it. For best results, fully charge your device using a wall outlet first. The solar panel is designed to keep a full battery topped up, not to act as a primary charger for an empty one.
3. What is the difference between a chew-proof cable and a regular cable?
A regular cable is suitable for everyday use in areas with minimal rodent activity. However, for areas with squirrels, raccoons, or other rodents, the chew-proof cable provides extra protection with its metal-wrapped layer.
4. How do 3W, 5W, and 8W solar panels differ?
The wattage indicates the solar panel's charging power—the higher the number, the more efficient the charging.
- 3W: Ideal for standard use with a single camera.
- 5W: Provides a 60% faster charge than the 3W panel, offering a significant boost in charging speed.
- 8W: Delivers 1.6 times the power of the 5W panel for maximum charging endurance and efficiency.
Additionally, the 5W and 8W models include a Y-branch connector, allowing you to charge two cameras simultaneously, which is perfect for dual-camera models like the Birdfy Feeder 2 Duo.

6. How to clean my solar panel?
For light dust, a simple rinse with water is often sufficient.
However, a deeper clean may be necessary for stubborn dirt.
Here’s what you'll need for a deep clean:
- Mild detergent or specialized cleaning solution
- A soft microfiber cloth or sponge
- Soft towels or paper towels for drying
Cleaning Steps:
- Disconnect the solar panel from the device.
- Mix mild detergent with water.
- Gently wipe the panels from top to bottom with a microfiber cloth or sponge.
- Focus on areas with stubborn grime like bird droppings or heavy dirt.
- Thoroughly rinse the panel with clean water. Dry completely using soft towels or paper towels.
Frequency:
Clean your solar panels when you see dirt or dust building up to keep them working efficiently.
(Less frequently in rainy areas; more often in dry/dusty/pollen-heavy areas)
